Accompanied by four of my friends, we began on a tour filled with stunning landscapes, frozen lakes, and thrilling adventures. Every day was full of amazement and wonder, starting from the minute we arrived in Leh and continuing through our exploration of Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and the surrounding areas. Come along with me as I share the highlights of my amazing Leh Ladakh winter vacation.

Arrival in Leh Ladakh

After a short flight to Leh Ladakh from Delhi on Vistara Airlines. Despite it being the winter season, the flights were surprisingly affordable due to the off-season. As luck would have it, I was even upgraded to the business class, adding an extra touch of luxury to our journey. The chilly air welcomed us as we stepped out of the airport, instantly reminding us of the unique beauty of this region.

Our second day was devoted to discovering Leh’s captivating attractions. In our ultimate leh ladakh travel guide tour, we experienced the natural and cultural beauties of the region, from the well-known Magnetic Hill, where it appears as though gravity has been broken, to the tranquil Gurudwara Pathar Sahib and the energetic Leh market. Everything we saw was given an otherworldly quality by the snow-covered landscapes. There are plenty of activities in Leh Ladakh for those who enjoy outdoor adventures. When I got the chance to experience snow skiing, I couldn’t resist. I will always treasure the exhilaration of sliding down the slopes while taking in the breathtaking views of the Alps.

One of the highlights of our trip was our journey to the stunning Nubra Valley. We embarked on a scenic drive through the challenging Khardung-La Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world. The snow-clad peaks and the winding roads offered a breathtaking spectacle at every turn. As we descended into the Nubra Valley, the landscape transformed into a winter wonderland.

Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake and return to Leh

Nubra Valley to Pangong Lake and return to Leh. On the fourth day, we set off towards the famous Pangong Lake, known for its striking turquoise waters and remote beauty. Winter added a unique charm to the lake, as it was completely frozen, creating an otherworldly atmosphere. The temperature dropped to a bone-chilling -35 degrees Celsius, but the stunning beauty of the frozen lake made every shiver worthwhile. We marveled at the vast expanse of ice, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, and even ventured onto the frozen lake, cautiously navigating the crystal-clear ice.

After spending precious moments at Pangong Lake, we began our return journey to Leh, passing through the challenging Chandala Pass. The snowfall intensified, enveloping the landscape in a white blanket, and we couldn’t help but feel like characters in a winter fairy tale.
